Movie Review

Ten years ago, John Stagliano shocked and mesmerized the porn world and it's fans with a very well executed dramatic love story that was cutting edge on many fronts, The Fashionistas. Not only did it become a best seller, a classic and a winner of a plethora of awards, it even was made into a stage production in Las Vegas. Now, Stagliano has done it again with another film with an intricate story while weaving the fine line of erotic hardcore sex with the darker side of pain that also brings pleasure. It is a genre that only a man of Stagliano's vision and brilliance could bring to the screen. This is a four disc package with this sprawling film broken into chapters as this story takes the viewer on a very different road of adult travel for a once in a lifetime experience.

Add to that vision an absolutely perfect cast who handle their roles with every drop of realism that seeps through with every word, movement and action. To have a cast of performers who understand in detail just what it is that Stagliano wants to portray is key to the overall success of this production. Then you add in the costuming, the settings both here and in Berlin and Budapest, the makeup, the pulsating, flowing, erotic music score by Don Mariah and deft and clever writing and you have another piece of cutting edge porn that is unlike anything that came before it, including The Fashionistas. As for the writing of this script, Stagliano was aided by the writing talents of Brooklyn Lee and Lea Lexis proving they not only have acting chops and tremendous sexual performers, but very accomplished screen writers as well. The words and what surrounds them all blend very well.

The storyline may be unsettling for some and for some an eye opener because the subject matter revolves around priests, perversions, vampires and a lot more. However this unholy vision is all brought together by strong performances from everyone in the cast, in particular Omar Galanti, Manuel Ferrara and Rocco Siffredi. There is a strength in the roles they portray that is rarely seen in a porn film. The same could be said for the females in the cast, Brooklyn Lee as the vampire Amira, Lea Lexis, Sandra Romain and the rest as there are performances delivered that are painted with the broad brush of stark realism.

The sex scenes that take place throughout this extraordinary production are above and beyond. There is tenderness and sensuality, but there is also the complete use of intensity, forcefulness, over the edge, truly anything goes encounters and couplings. Some it will be jaw dropping, some of it will be exciting turn ons and some will just totally envelop you into the entire scope of the scene. But you will feel the pain and the pleasures, perverse at times, taking place within your own mind and body.

I remember back when I reviewed The Fashionistas back in 2002 and said that Stagliano could never top such an exemplary production, but I was wrong. He has done it with "Voracious". This is a true masterpiece of adult filming that is taunting, eerie, nasty, shocking yet completely entertaining. It is also a film with it's poignant, sensual, steamy, wickedly perverse moments of pure pleasure and feeling. The behind the camera crew are to be lauded for their excellence in being a big part of this production and putting together this extravagant work of art. This film will be a very heavy nomination in many areas come awards time. It is a five star production worthy of all the critical acclaim it has received and will continue to receive and again cements the film brilliance and visions of John Stagliano.

One other note, the packaging of this exquisite set has three different covers. The one you see here and two others, so you will have a choice.
